Building Websites Is Bullshit
Apparently, I build websites now.
This was not on the schedule.
It started because the World of Aldaria website desperately needed some attention. And by “some attention,” I mean it was basically a picture of M&M with a big COMING SOON sign slapped on it. Which was fine when “soon” meant eventually. It became considerably less fine when we actually had things worth showing people.
So Jim and I did what any reasonable people would do and turned a simple website update into a HUGE FUCKING PROJECT.
And you know what? It looks fucking amazing now.
Naturally, that should have been enough.
It was not.
Because once I finished staring proudly at the shiny new World of Aldaria site, some deeply defective part of my brain whispered:
You know what else needs a website?
Me.
And that is how we got here.
Welcome to Brenda-Land, where today's adventures have included HTML, CSS, fighting with images, a fictional mostly-toothless dog named Spud, and discovering that YouTube apparently doesn't want me embedding my own damn writing playlist.
So now my website has a cassette player.
Because I'm Gen X and spite is a perfectly legitimate design philosophy.
At this point I'm not entirely sure whether I'm building a personal website or slowly reconstructing the internet circa 1998, except prettier and with fewer dancing babies.
Either way, I kind of fucking love it.
